After the West started imposing and extending sanctions against Russia after it invaded Ukraine, I got more and more stunned about the enormity of the sanctions and how they seem to be unanimously seem to be supported by especially Western governments AND the Western population.
It seems a complete hysteria has broken out, where there seems to be only one way to look at this war / special operation: Putin/Russia is bad and Ukraine is suffering and (only) good.
And it goes on and on and on, for four weeks or so now, since the start of the invasion. And yes, there seems to be a little more rational thinking, but somehow any other point of view than Russia is bad/criminal/whatever and needs to be punished is not allowed, at least not in the West.
And to me that all doesn’t make sense, as this is a very old conflict.
AND WHY IS RUSSIA BEING TREATED THIS BAD WHERE THE WEST HAS A LONG HISTORY OF INVADING SOVEREIGN COUNTRIES AND/OR MESSING WITH GOVERNMENTS IN SOVEREIGN COUNTRIES?
It all looks like a very emotional reaction/response to a, in a geopolitical sense, relatively minor invasion in another country, even though Ukraine somehow is in the middle of the conflict of the cold war before.
